"Long live the '60's!"
"It's groovy, Man!"
OR...is it?
Protests have taken place in our nation since the Revolutionary War, culminating in an expression of free speech guaranteed by the Constitution. As long as one doesn't trample on the rights of another person, one can voice her/his opinion for change.
Research the protests taking place on Wall Street and validate whether or not the protesters have a valid point in their arguments for change.
Do the protesters have legitimate points to protest? choose ONE cause and examine that cause from the point of truthfulness and effective protest.
"Debate" the issue with your fellow classmates!

I think that the protesters a good argument such as being mad about the banks being bailed out for their mistakes while other people are suffering. But there are also a lot of stupid arguments such as the $20 p/h minimum wage and all college dept being forgotten. this could be a good protest but unfortunately there is not enough organization, negotiation, and legitimate points to get people to really take this protest seriously.
From my own knowledge of "Occupy Wall Street," there are many good causes that can be expressed, such as the bailouts of banks while the middle man is struggling. However, the people protesting are bringing in their personal opinions, along with mixed facts, to discussion. In my opinion, there isn't a legitimate reason for protest. In my eyes, it looks like another "Hippie Movement."
I think that it is not right for these protesters to be striking wall street. Wall Street wont do anything about these problems;although they be the issue. They should be at our capital where, what they are saying can really make a difference within the government. I feel that protests are a healthy part of our country and a good way to express the first amendment. Although i don't think their are enough people to truly make a difference, it is a notable effort.
The people that are protesting on Wall Street are in my mind ill informed and downright wrong. I believe that these people should be in D.C. protesting not protesting the big banks. The big banks are trying to keep their heads above water just like the people that are protesting. Also the people should know their cause better. I think some that are occupying wall street just to say they did it;Like their parents did in the 60's. These people should get off of wall street and go to Washington where their protests will be heard.

I believe that the wall street bankers should suffer for their mistakes rather than get bailed out. In addition I don't think that they should protest at wall street, i think they should go to Washington D.C. where it matters more.
I think that the protesters have some valid points. I believe that there is some truth behind why they are angry. The largest reason on why these young people are protesting is because of the banks being bailed out. Congress gave these banks 700 billion dollars in order to save them from collapsing. The protesters have expressed that 17% of american people who are looking for a full time job have settled with less, such as part time jobs that bring in little money. These people have the right to protest because under the first amendment they are allowed to peacefully assembled and voice their opinions without being silenced by the government or local officials
I believe that the protesters have legitimate points to protest. Why should the bankers be aided while most people are suffering? Some protesters may be going overboard with the 20$ per hour wage but in my eyes, let the protesters fight on!!
The protesters have every right to be doing what they're doing. The economy has been suffering drastically in the past couple of years and to aide the bank instead of unemployed citizens seems extremely unreasonable. Both ethically and morally the government is wrong for aiding bankers. In order to solve economical issues, we first should help the citizens so that the economy can produce more value. When that is established, then we can fund the bankers. Overall, I 100% agree with the Wall Street protesters.
The protesters on Wall Street have one valid point which is about the bailout. In a capitalist system you either sink or swim and all the banks sank. Why do they deserve to be bailed out and not normal American people? I still believe that many Occupy Wall Street demands are outrageous like the 20 dollar minimum wage and that they want all college debt taken away. I think the real enemy that the protesters should be against in the government because it was the government that bailed the banks out and it should be the government who has to answer for it.
The Occupy Wall Street protests have given a voice to the average American that has not yet been heard. With Congress only concerned about their re-elections and Wall Street's return to business as usual after causing this recession and then getting bailed out by the American taxpayer, it is now receiving record-breaking corporate profits and salaries (now almost 24% of US wealth is held by less than 1 % of our population) and with its millions of dollars buying political power, the protesters are tapping in to the voice of the unheard, the ignored and the long suffering middle class whose wages are now the lowest share of the economy in over 60 years. Teachers, nurses, firefighters, union workers and families have joined them as well. With college students today facing unimaginable debt from sky-rocketing tuition and poor job prospects to pay it off, it is curious why its taken so long for this movement to start. The Wall Street protesters' message may be unfocused but I give them credit for being out there trying to make their voices heard and speaking for so many in the country that really should be out there with them.
I can understand why the protesters are on Wall Street expressing their opinions about how the government is bailing out the banks and the middle and lower class is suffering with job losses. I personally do not believe everyone should be looking to the government to solve their problems. College students are becoming upset that the government wont pay for their tuition at college. I know the employment rate is very low right now but it is possible to actually get a job and work to pay for your own college tuition. In some cases that does require working two jobs which some people do actually do to get by. Its good that people are expressing their opinions on Wall Street but in my opinion it is getting a little out of hand. There are other ways of getting your point across that may have more affect.
