Are Video Games Our Walter Mitty Escape From Reality?

Thanks to Steve Spada, I pose the question to you, part of the Class of 2012 - do video games give you the escape you need everyday, as did Walter Mitty's daydreaming gave him from his ho-hum life? Like for Walter Mitty, are these "escapes" good for one's life? Or, do they give the escapee false hopes and the road to nowhere? What are your thoughts?

Well i feel like video games are my break from school and practice. When i play video games I feel relieved. I know playing video games will get me no where in life, but its something fun to do, and I enjoy playing them.

I agree with Dylan. I play videogames because after hours of school and practice, I just want to relax and talk to my friends. Videogame systems offer a live connection to play with your friends and talk about school, sports, and what we will do over a weekend.

When I play video games, I feel like I can jump into the game and situation of the game. They expand my imagination and give me a break from school or another things that can cuase me stress. Video games can also be entertainment to keep me from doing something stupid that would get me in trouble.

I agree with Dylan and Tyler. I love to play videogames especially playing Halo, Call of Duty 4, and other games. It's great time to take your anger out on while your playing and then it eases me after. Basically, it's fun to talk to people especially friends while playing.

Video games are pretty much a more complete version of walter mitty's daydreaming. Playing games with other people in a scienece fiction game like Halo is almost like having a daydream with other people. Or a squad based game like Call of duty is another game that gives people an "escape" from boring life and puts them in the shoes of a marine. So in a way video games are like Walter Mitty's daydreams, but more updated to fill people's needs from the life of the boring old american civilian.

Video games are everyones "Escape from Reality" because you there are no rules to what you can play. You cna play anything from baseball to a war game. What ever you want to be or where ever you want to be you can be there with a video game

I agree with ryan. In video games you can do things you could never do in real life. Video games are often an escape for many people because they can relax you or take you on all sorts of adventures.
