Does Anyone Tell the Truth???
I recently read that the former mayor of Passaic, Mr. Sammy Rivera, charged with a Federal crime, vehemently denied any wrongdoing, going so far as calling his accusers as vindictive and politically motivated. However, when the Federal prosecutor presented Mr. Rivera with his possible jail time, Mr. Rivera suddenly had a change of heart - he admitted wrongdoing and accepted a plea bargain. My question - why do people LIE in the first place? As one of my students, Tommy P., so aptly stated, "Man up!" and take your punishment! Can you tell me why it is sooo difficult to tell the truth?

my reason for not telling the truth is usually because i dont want to get in trouble or i do it for wut ever way it benefits me. but i think the reason for most people to lie is cuz they do not want to get in trouble or dont want to take the punishment.

I think that the reason why people lie are because they are afraid of the consiquences of telling the truth.

It's easy to say "don't lie" right now, but when under pressure, you can't think straight. It might have happened to Mr. Rivera.
People lie so that they get the spot or position that they want. In most cases where people have committed to lying, they have been in an important position.
I also think that people lie because they are afraid of the consequences.

it is hard to tell the truth because when u do something wrong you dont to admit it because you do not want to get punished for it and you wish that you have never done that bead thing.

most people lie or make things up becasue they want to fit it with today's enviroment. a lot of kids these days think it's better to lie so that other kids will like them and becasue they think they are cool when they make stuff up
